Residents of an apartment building on Letchika Pozdnyakova Street contacted law enforcement authorities to report that a three-year-old child had been left unattended in an apartment for an extended period.
According to witnesses, loud crying and screams of a child were heard from an apartment on the 13th floor. Later, neighbors saw the girl in the stairwell, sitting by the door. They said the child’s mother regularly left, leaving her daughter with only a jar of fruit puree.
Police determined that the girl had been left alone without adults for several days. Her 30-year-old mother only occasionally visited the apartment, but most of the time, the child was left to fend for herself.
The woman claimed she left her daughter because she had to work in the fields. Upon inspecting the family’s home, police found unsanitary conditions: there was no prepared food, the apartment was in disarray, and there was only one bed.
Law enforcement officers, together with child welfare authorities, removed the child and placed her in a medical facility.
“An investigation is currently underway regarding this incident, and the mother’s actions will be legally assessed based on its results,” stated the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnodar Krai.
