The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia will strengthen price controls for drinking water and food products in airports, according to an official statement.
“The FAS has instructed the Moscow and regional offices to increase monitoring due to reports of sharp price hikes for these goods in the capital’s airports,” the statement said.
The service emphasized that unjustified price increases for water and food items at airports are unacceptable.
Currently, inspections are being conducted at airports in 28 regions where annual passenger traffic exceeds 1 million people.
Following an inspection at Vnukovo Airport, authorities found inflated prices for drinking water, leading to two antitrust cases being filed against the retail operator.
