The construction of a new pedestrian underpass in Krasnodar is falling behind schedule. Recently, the Mayor visited the site to assess progress and reported that delays have been caused by the discovery of groundwater at the construction location.
“The groundwater issue has been resolved. However, we now need to relocate a gas pipeline, and that must be done as quickly as possible,” the Mayor said. “This underpass is of great importance to the city’s residents — it will help optimize traffic flow along Dzerzhinsky Street and improve pedestrian safety.”
Construction is continuing around the clock, with up to 18 workers on site during night shifts. Builders are currently completing the foundation for the stairway on the odd-numbered side of the street and have begun assembling lift shafts.
Work on the opposite, even-numbered side is scheduled to begin in October.
The new underpass will speed up traffic along Dzerzhinsky Street and provide a safe crossing for pedestrians.
