Krasnodar, 18 June. Sochi experienced its first major summer downpour at the start of the week.
Heavy rainfall hit the resort city overnight from Sunday to Monday. Despite the intensity of the weather, no major incidents were reported. In the mountainous areas of Sochi, at elevations above 2,000 meters, snow fell, and temperatures dropped to zero degrees Celsius.
As a result of the storm, ten trees fell in different parts of the city. Utility services quickly addressed localized disruptions based on residents’ reports. No emergency calls requesting assistance were received on the 112 hotlines from either locals or tourists.
In Dagomys, heavy rainfall caused water accumulation along a stretch of the Batumskoe Highway. Over 70 workers and 33 units of special equipment were deployed on federal roads within Sochi to cope with the effects of the adverse weather.
