The Public Prosecution has ordered the preventive detention of the manager of the Agricultural Plateau Project pending investigation, following accusations related to financial corruption and violations of the laws and regulations governing financial and administrative work within the project.

This action comes within the framework of efforts aimed at protecting public funds and holding accountable those involved in the misuse of resources allocated to public projects.

The Office of the Attorney General clarified that the accused deviated from the requirements of the public interest by disposing of agricultural machinery and equipment owned by the project in violation of the established financial system.

The statement explained that the disposal process was carried out in exchange for obtaining a vehicle whose value is not commensurate with the real value of the equipment that was recklessly disposed of, before the accused proceeded to register the vehicle’s ownership in his name, in clear violation of the laws in force.

The statement added that the project manager also mismanaged a financial amount of 1.2 million dinars, which had been allocated for the maintenance of sewage treatment pumps belonging to the project.

It indicated that this amount was spent on purposes other than those specified for it, which directly harmed the workflow and undermined the objectives for which the funds were allocated, constituting a clear violation of financial and administrative legislation.

The Office of the Attorney General confirmed that the Anti-Corruption Prosecution in Tripoli initiated the investigation as soon as preliminary information became available. The accused was summoned and confronted with all the facts attributed to him, supported by evidence, documents, and relevant legal proofs. After completing the procedures of inquiry and preliminary investigation, the prosecution decided to detain him preventively in connection with the case, pending the completion of investigations and the taking of necessary legal measures.
