To celebrate its 5th anniversary in September, “The Kahala Hotel & Resort Yokohama” (Minato Mirai 1, Nishi Ward, Yokohama) will offer a limited-time “Kyoho & Shine Muscat Afternoon Tea” at “THE KAHALA Lounge” from September 1 to October 31.

The hotel is located in the central Minato Mirai 21 district, adjacent to the Pacifico Yokohama convention center. It opened in September 2020 as the first global expansion of “The Kahala Hotel & Resort,” a historic establishment in Honolulu, Hawaii, with over 60 years of history.

With a “Crystal Modern” design concept that artistically plays with light and shadow, the hotel features approximately 150 guest rooms, restaurants, bars, lounges, state-of-the-art banquet facilities, and a spa.

This autumn, the seasonal afternoon tea at “THE KAHALA Lounge” on the 14th floor will have a “grape” theme, featuring Kyoho and Shine Muscat grapes, which reach their peak flavor in the fall.

The menu includes six items, such as a Shine Muscat shortcake and a tart topped with both Kyoho and Shine Muscat grapes. The fruits are minimally processed to highlight their natural flavors.

Instead of scones, Hawaiian donuts called “malasadas” are served. Additionally, a new item, “Kouign-Amann Otsuka Style,” created by the hotel’s executive chef, makes its debut. This is a savory reinterpretation of the traditional French pastry “Kouign-Amann,” caramelized with brown sugar and topped with lightly sweetened maple cream, accompanied by four spices (including clove and nutmeg) and a hint of salt.

The afternoon tea is available in limited quantities and requires advance reservations. Pricing is ¥10,120 for one person and ¥23,540 for two (includes an original bear). Reservation slots are available at 12:00, 12:30, 16:00, and 16:30. Reservations open on August 2 at 12:00, while hotel packages can be booked from July 26 to August 1.
