U.S. consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble has revealed that if the impact of the Iran attack continues, it could incur additional costs of approximately $15.9 billion. On the 24th, P&G held an earnings briefing, reporting that its performance from January to March showed increases in both revenue and profit, with net profit rising 4% year-on-year to over $624 billion. However, due to the surge in crude oil prices from the Iran attack, raw material and packaging costs have risen, potentially affecting annual profits by about $23.8 billion. Additionally, if the situation becomes prolonged, the company forecasts an additional cost of over $159 billion. Polyethylene, found in many plastics, is believed to have had roughly half of global supply cut off due to the effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, leading to the largest price increases in North America in decades. A survey by a U.S. university shows inflation expectations at 4.7%, up nearly 1% from the previous month.
