Naoko Takahashi, the women’s marathon gold medalist, served as the one-day chief of the traffic department for the Gifu Prefectural Police, urging traffic safety.

Takahashi, a native of Gifu City, is serving as the chairperson of the “Gifu Seiryu Half Marathon” to be held on the 26th, and was appointed as the one-day traffic department chief in conjunction with this event.

Takahashi said she particularly wanted to raise awareness about the new blue ticket system for bicycle traffic violations, which began in April.

“The traffic violation notification system (blue tickets) for bicycles started in April. I hope the people of my beloved hometown, Gifu, can cooperate so that they can live safely and securely,” said Naoko Takahashi.

According to the police, from the 1st to the 20th in Gifu Prefecture, one blue ticket was issued for a “failure to stop temporarily,” and 791 cases of guidance and warnings were given.
