Discussions on whether to regulate children’s use of social media are set to intensify.
At a meeting of experts on April 22, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications discussed the protection of young people regarding social media.
The government is considering requiring social media operators, such as Instagram and TikTok, to take measures to prevent addiction, including limiting usage time and restricting viewable posts.
Restrictions on social media use for young people are also expanding overseas, such as in Australia, where it is banned for those under 16.
