According to the fire department, a male passerby called 119 at around 1:30 a.m. to report an accident involving a car and a pedestrian at the intersection of “Temmachodori Honmachi” in Naka Ward’s Nishiki 2-chome, with a young woman injured.
Police stated that a black car hit a female pedestrian at a signalized intersection and then fled the scene.
The woman was taken to a hospital but was later confirmed dead.
The car fled north but was later found by police.
Police are treating the case as a hit-and-run, questioning the driver of the vehicle, and working to confirm the woman’s identity.
