23-year-old medical student arrested for alleged property damage accident after drinking and driving on university grounds; denies charges, claiming no memory of the incident in Aichi

A student from Fujita Medical University in Aichi Prefecture has been arrested on suspicion of causing an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol.

The arrested suspect is Ryoya Imai (23), a second-year medical student at Fujita Medical University. According to police, Imai is suspected of driving a passenger car while intoxicated around noon the day before yesterday within the university grounds in Toyoake City, Aichi Prefecture, colliding with a guard pipe.

A passerby reported the incident, and emergency responders transported the heavily intoxicated suspect to the hospital. Imai sustained no injuries and has denied the allegations, telling police, “I don’t remember.”
