Mayor of Toyohashi announces plans to resume new arena project following majority public vote in favor of continuation.
The mayor of Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, announced today that he has taken steps to resume the arena project, which received majority support in a public referendum.
The new arena project in Toyohashi City involves the construction of a 5,000-seat arena in Toyohashi Park and the development of the park’s eastern area, with a total project cost of approximately 23 billion yen.
Following the majority vote in favor of continuing the project during the public referendum on the 20th of this month, Mayor Naoto Nagasaka outlined the subsequent steps during a regular press conference today.

“I have instructed the relevant departments to proceed with procedures for the prompt resumption of the project. We have notified the contractor of our intention to lift the temporary suspension and expressed our desire to discuss specific future measures.”
Additionally, on the 25th of this month, the mayor visited the representative company of the contractor in Tokyo to directly convey the intention to resume the project, stating that it was “well received.”
Future schedules, costs, and other details will be discussed with the contractor.
