BMKG Warns of Potential Heavy Rain and Strong Winds in Banten Over the Next Week
TANGERANGNEWS.com- The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning regarding increased atmospheric activity in the Banten region, which is predicted to trigger significant weather in the coming days.
Heavy rain and strong winds have the potential to occur in several areas of Banten from December 12 to 18, 2025.
The Head of the Regional II Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Center explained that the increase in rainfall is influenced by currently active atmospheric dynamics and the presence of Tropical Cyclone Seed 91S in the Indian Ocean west of Sumatra.
“The BMKG Region II informs of the potential for increased rainfall in the Banten Province area in the coming week in relation to the atmospheric dynamics currently active in the Banten region, as well as the presence of Tropical Cyclone Seed 91S in the Indian Ocean West of Sumatra,” the statement said.
It was conveyed that heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is likely to occur in several areas, namely the northern and western parts of Pandeglang Regency, Cilegon City, and the western and southern parts of Serang Regency.
Furthermore, strong winds with speeds that could reach 45 km/h are estimated to occur during the period of December 14–18, 2025.
Areas potentially affected include the western part of Pandeglang Regency, Serang Regency, Cilegon City, Serang City, the northern part of Lebak Regency, Tangerang Regency, Tangerang City, and South Tangerang City.
Facing these weather conditions, the BMKG asks the public to remain cautious as weather changes can occur rapidly.
“In facing the potential for extreme weather, the BMKG urges the public to remain alert to weather changes that can occur suddenly,” the statement said.
It was also advised that the public avoid outdoor activities during rain accompanied by lightning and stay away from trees, billboards, and buildings at risk of collapse due to strong winds.
“And to increase preparedness for potential hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, flash floods, and landslides. The public is also expected to continue monitoring the latest weather information through official BMKG channels,” the statement concluded.
