TANGERANG – The Tangerang City Government urges all residents to increase vigilance amid the rising trend of fraud schemes using the pretext of activating the Electronic Resident Identity Card (IKD).
The Head of the Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil) of Tangerang City stated that there is no IKD activation service conducted via letter, phone call, SMS, email, or personal WhatsApp messages.
The Tangerang City Government emphasizes that IKD activation services can only be accessed through in-person interaction with officers at population administration service locations. These include the Disdukcapil Office, the Public Service Mall (MPP), and several specifically designated locations such as district offices.
“We confirm that IKD activation services can only be performed directly through officers and cannot be done online. Therefore, any offers for IKD activation via SMS, WhatsApp, email, or phone call can be confirmed as fraudulent schemes,” the official said.
“We encourage the public to be more cautious, as these fraud schemes often involve personal messages requesting personal data under the pretext of IKD verification, even through fake links or barcodes that direct victims to download from prepared imitation websites or applications,” the official added.
Furthermore, the Tangerang City Government confirms that the official application for accessing IKD activation services is only available through the “DITJEN DUKCAPIL KEMENDAGRI” app, which is exclusively on Play Store and App Store.
“We also urge the public that there is only one official application provided. Do not install any IKD application from outside the provided App Market (Play Store and App Store). Therefore, installing an application via file can be confirmed as fraud,” the official concluded.
