TANGERANGNEWS.com-Crime in the form of theft remains a major challenge for law enforcement officers of the Banten Regional Police.
Based on data from the Bareskrim Polri EMP application, there were 486 reported theft cases in the jurisdiction of the Banten Regional Police from January to May 31, 2026.
Of that total, aggravated theft (curat) was the most dominant type of crime reported by the public, with 357 cases.
In addition, there were 102 cases of ordinary theft, 23 cases of theft with violence (curas), and 4 cases of petty theft.
Tangerang Resort Police: The Most Vulnerable Area
The Tangerang Resort Police area had the highest number of theft reports compared to other regions under the Banten Regional Police, reaching 127 cases. This was followed by the Lebak Police with 116 cases and the Pandeglang Police with 112 cases.
Then, the Serang Police with 47 cases, the Cilegon Police with 35 cases, and the Serang City Resort Police with 30 cases.
Looking at the monthly trend graph since the beginning of the year, the number of theft reports experienced consecutive increases in March and April, before finally dropping drastically in May.
The details are: 89 cases in January, 88 cases in February, 123 cases in March, 144 cases in April (the highest peak), and 42 cases in May.
Public Roads and Office Areas Are Vulnerable Locations
Based on location analysis via the EMP application, public roads were the most vulnerable places for theft incidents, with a total of 41 cases, or about 8.43 percent of all cases.
In addition to public spaces, office areas ranked second as the most vulnerable location, with 31 cases, or 6.3 percent.
The high number of reports confirms that theft remains a major concern for the police in Banten.
Strict law enforcement against perpetrators continues to be pursued as a crucial step to provide a deterrent effect while maintaining security stability in the community.
