Damage to the 275 kV transmission infrastructure on the Galang-Simangkuk section has disrupted the North Sumatra electricity system and caused power outages in the region.
PT PLN (Persero) North Sumatra Main Distribution Unit stated that the company is collaborating with several partners to accelerate the restoration of electricity in North Sumatra.
“PLN continues to accelerate the recovery of the North Sumatra electricity system following extreme weather that caused damage to the 275 kV transmission infrastructure on the Galang-Simangkuk section.”
It was explained that PLN is working with the Indonesian National Armed Forces and has successfully brought in a total of 7 sets of emergency towers from Jakarta, Balikpapan, and Banjarbaru using Hercules aircraft.
Currently, the team is working in parallel to construct 3 emergency towers to expedite the restoration of the 275 kV Galang-Simangkuk transmission line.
“As of now, the installation of columns on the three emergency towers has been completed, followed by the installation of guy wires, and in parallel, conductor loading is being carried out to the site.”
In addition, another acceleration effort involves deploying 154 personnel from PLN and partner companies. “They continue to work intensively in the field, prioritizing safety and work quality to speed up the restoration of the electricity system.”
In other words, PLN is deploying all necessary resources, equipment, and technical support to ensure the recovery process can be completed as quickly as possible.
“PLN asks for support and prayers from all members of the community so that the recovery process runs smoothly and electricity supply in North Sumatra can return to normal as soon as possible.”
