The Narcotics Unit of the Nias Police uncovered a case of crystal methamphetamine circulation on Tuesday at approximately 10:45 PM local time in Hiliwarokha Village, Bawolato District, Nias.
From the operation, officers successfully secured a suspect with the initials ESB (42), a resident of Hiliwarokha Village.
The evidence secured included 13 transparent plastic clip packages containing crystalline granules suspected to be crystal meth with a gross weight of 1.00 gram, 1 mobile phone unit, 1 bottle of gum, 1 roll of black duct tape, and 2 matchboxes.
The arrest originated from public information regarding the suspect’s suspicious activities, as he was often involved in narcotics transactions at his home.
Following up on the report, the operational team from the Narcotics Unit conducted an investigation and eventually took action at the suspect’s residence.
“During the search, officers found narcotics of the crystal meth type stored in a room inside his house. When interrogated, ESB admitted that the illicit goods belonged to him, obtained from a person whose identity is still under investigation,” the statement said.
Currently, the suspect along with the evidence has been taken to the Nias Police Station for further investigation.
Police will also conduct witness examinations, a urine test on the suspect, complete the investigation administration, and prepare the case file.
The Nias Police reiterated its commitment to continue eradicating the circulation of narcotics within its jurisdiction and urged the public to actively provide information if they become aware of any suspicious activities related to narcotics trafficking.
