The Indonesian Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) is targeting national crude palm oil (CPO) production to reach 60 million tons by 2030. This target aligns with projections of increasing demand for CPO in the food, biodiesel, and oleochemical industries.
The Director of BPDP stated that current CPO production is still around 50 million tons per year. Therefore, significant effort is required to achieve the 60 million ton target.
“By 2030, CPO production is targeted to reach 60 million tons so it can be used to meet the needs for food, oleochemicals, and biofuels,” he said in Jakarta.
In addition to maintaining domestic supply, the production increase also aims to keep exports stable. This is because palm oil export levies are the primary source of funding for BPDP.
“Exports are very important for BPDP, as the funds we collect come from export levies. So if exports decline, our levies also decrease, which reduces BPDP’s ability to finance its programs,” he explained.
To support the production increase, BPDP is also preparing a human resource development program for the palm oil plantation sector, ranging from educational scholarships to technical training.
“Our obligation is to enhance the knowledge, skills, professionalism, independence, and competitiveness of plantation human resources, both from technical, managerial, and entrepreneurial aspects,” he concluded.
