Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to investigate several associations overseeing travel agencies in relation to the 2024 Hajj quota case. KPK is also examining the distribution of quotas from associations to travel agencies.
“We will investigate the management of special Hajj quotas obtained from the additional quota of 20,000 in 2024, specifically how these associations distribute special quotas to PIHK (Special Hajj Organizers) or to travel agencies,” stated the KPK spokesperson.
Additionally, KPK is investigating another matter regarding the provision of acceleration money to individuals at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
“Then we’re looking into how these travel agencies provide certain amounts of money or fees to individuals at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, whether through associations or through other intermediaries,” explained the spokesperson.
KPK is also examining user access to applications for payments, reservations, logistics, accommodation, and other services. The spokesperson clarified that users conducting these activities are association representatives.
“According to witness testimony, these users are managed by associations. KPK will certainly investigate how the operational mechanism works for inputting Hajj pilgrimage requirements by associations that oversee or gather PIHK or travel agencies conducting Hajj pilgrimages for congregants,” the spokesperson elaborated.
Recently, KPK has been summoning various association representatives, including Amphuri, Himpuh, and Asphuri. Today, KPK also summoned the Advisory Board Chairman of Gaphuria for questioning.
KPK has received substantial money returns from travel associations and agencies related to this case, including from the owner of Uhud Tour.
The KPK Chairman stated that the amount of money returned to KPK from travel associations and agencies has reached tens of billions of rupiah.
“Overall, if we’re talking hundreds of billions, not yet, but tens of billions certainly. It’s approaching one hundred billion,” said the Chairman.
The Chairman confirmed that KPK will maximize efforts to pursue assets suspected to be connected to the Hajj quota corruption case. He stated KPK will continue asset tracing.
“We will certainly pursue this as much as possible, as long as we have information that assets exist and these assets – whether movable or immovable – are connected to the case. We will definitely conduct tracing to the maximum extent possible,” explained the Chairman.
