Hundreds of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers surrounded a debt collector office on Jalan Sei Rokan, Medan Sunggal District, Medan City. This was triggered because their fellow ojol driver’s motorcycle was repossessed by the debt collector.

The Sunggal Police Chief stated that the incident occurred on Thursday (4/23/2026). The initial information about the event was received around 6:00 PM local time.

“Sunggal Police initially received information that there had been a disturbance between the ojol party and the field agents of PT Cakrabirawa Inti Perkasa on Jalan Sei Rokan,” he said on Friday (4/24).

He stated that he and other personnel immediately went to the location to verify the information. Upon arrival, the police found about 100 ojol drivers at the scene. The mid-ranking police officer said the ojol crowd was protesting the repossession of their colleague’s motorcycle, Christoper Manurung, on Wednesday (4/22).

“So, it is true that a disturbance occurred involving approximately 100 ojol drivers, (the drivers) were looking for the field agent who had repossessed the motorcycle belonging to one of the ojol members,” he explained.

The police then attempted to calm the crowd. However, as the situation did not become conducive, the police officers decided to bring both parties to the Sunggal Police Sector to find a solution to the problem.

The police chief has not yet detailed the chronology of the incident’s issues. However, later, both parties agreed to reconcile.

“At 12:00 AM, both parties reconciled and dispersed safely and orderly,” he explained.
