The Labuhanbatu District Prosecutor’s Office is investigating an alleged corruption case involving the use of grant funds by the Labuhanbatu Regency Scout Movement Branch Council for the 2022 to 2024 fiscal years. Testimony has been taken from 53 witnesses.
It was emphasized that this case has revealed indications of legal violations.
From a series of investigations, the use of grant funds by the Labuhanbatu Scout Council did not comply with applicable laws and regulations, resulting in state financial losses occurring from the 2022-2024 fiscal years.
A number of unlawful modus operandi in the use of the Labuhanbatu Scout Council grant funds were revealed, including forgery of invoice or receipt signatures, mark-ups of participant numbers, fictitious accountability, and imposing unauthorized fees on Scout participants.
During the investigation process, the team summoned 70 individuals for questioning, but 17 of them did not attend.
“So, 70 people have been summoned and 53 people attended to provide statements,” it was stated.
This is part of the commitment and tangible manifestation of the Labuhanbatu District Prosecutor’s Office in law enforcement and the eradication of corruption crimes within its jurisdiction, upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and professionalism.
This move at the beginning of the year adds to the long list of corruption cases handled by the Labuhanbatu District Prosecutor’s Office. In the previous year, there were 8 cases under investigation and 8 cases at the inquiry stage.
Furthermore, there are 10 cases that have entered the pre-prosecution stage, 14 cases at the prosecution stage for corruption crimes, and 2 cases that have reached the execution stage.
Not only focused on handling cases, the Special Crimes Section also successfully contributed to safeguarding state finances. The total value of state financial safeguards throughout the year reached more than Rp 2.7 billion.
This value consists of Non-Tax State Revenue of Rp 100,000,000, efforts to safeguard state finances amounting to Rp 2,154,519,672, and the deposit of replacement money of Rp 485,000,000.
In the Special Crimes sector throughout the implementation period, budget absorption reached Rp 527,150,112 against a total ceiling of Rp 561,778,000, representing a realization percentage of 93.84%.
