Three kidnappers of an elementary school student from SDI Nurul Fadillah in Medan Marelan were arrested by the Belawan Port Police on Friday, August 1, 2025.
The three suspects have been detained by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Belawan Port Police for further legal proceedings.
Two of the perpetrators tested positive for narcotics, while the third suspect tested negative.
Previously, a viral report on social media revealed that an elementary school student from SDI Nurul Fadilah on Jalan Pasar III, Lingkungan 12, Rengas Pulau Village, Medan Marelan, was kidnapped while on their way home on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
The victim is the child of a resident of Asami Residence Housing, Lingkungan 4, Terjun Village, Medan Marelan District. The mother works as a teacher, while the father is an employee at a bank.
CCTV footage showed the victim being picked up by a woman and taken away on a motorcycle. Shortly afterward, the perpetrator arrived at the victim’s home and delivered an envelope containing a threatening letter demanding a ransom of Rp 50 million to the victim’s grandmother.
After reading the letter, the grandmother panicked and asked neighbors for help to contact the victim’s mother, who was on her way to pick up her child.
Upon receiving the distressing news, the mother returned home and reported the incident to the Belawan Port Police.
After receiving the report, the police launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and ensure the victim’s safety. The three kidnappers were subsequently arrested, and the victim was safely returned to their parents.
The Head of Criminal Investigation at Medan Labuhan Police, Iptu Hamzar, confirmed the schoolchild kidnapping case and the arrest of the three suspects.
“We are still investigating the case,” said Iptu Hamzar.
