Jakarta –
A fire struck 4 kiosk buildings on Jalan Raya Pulogebang, Cakung, East Jakarta early Thursday morning. A total of 13 fire trucks were deployed to handle the blaze.
“A total of 13 fire engines and 65 personnel from the East Jakarta area were deployed to overcome the flames,” said the Duty Officer of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-department, Sunaryo.
Initial information about the fire was received at 00:23 WIB from a resident who contacted the fire department. Firefighters were immediately dispatched to handle the incident.
“At 00:23 WIB, officers received information from a resident who contacted the Jakarta Siaga 112 service regarding a fire at the location,” said Sunaryo.
After receiving the report, the firefighting team was immediately deployed to the scene.
“Upon receiving the report, we immediately launched the first phase. Upon arrival at the scene, the fire was already burning. However, from that initial effort, the fire was successfully localized so that it did not spread to other buildings,” explained Sunaryo.
The objects that burned were warehouse buildings classified as low-rise structures. Several kiosks, including a food stall, an electrical equipment seller, and a logistics shipping service, were completely burned.
“Four kiosks were completely burned, and at the time of the incident, the buildings were empty,” said Sunaryo.
He stated that the fire location was relatively easy to access, which did not complicate the extinguishing process.
Nevertheless, potential dangers from electrical installations remained a concern for officers in the field.
Currently, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Officers are still collecting data and witness statements to determine the source of the fire.
Meanwhile, the value of losses due to the fire has also not yet been determined.
“The cause and losses are still under investigation because they require data and witness statements,” said Sunaryo.
There have been no reports of casualties in the incident. However, the event serves as an important reminder for the public to increase vigilance, especially regarding the potential for fires due to electrical installations in business areas.
