PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) affirmed its crucial role in maintaining national energy supply stability during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year period (Nataru). During the strategic period from 18 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, KAI operated as the logistical backbone to ensure electricity remained reliable.
From the total 3,286,530 tons of goods transported by KAI during that period, 2,733,587 tons were dominated by coal.
“Coal transport became the backbone of energy supply in various regions, especially Java and Bali, when electricity consumption increased significantly during the Christmas and New Year holidays.”
Stable electricity availability was key so that increased household, tourism, and business sector activities during the long holiday could run comfortably without disruption.
