Depok – The Mayor of Depok personally inspected four residents’ homes that were damaged in Tapos District on Tuesday. This inspection was a follow-up to community reports regarding several houses that were no longer habitable.

The four houses are located in two areas: three in Cilangkap Village and one in Leuwinanggung Village. During the visit, the Mayor was accompanied by the Acting Head of Tapos District, as well as the village head and local neighborhood officials.

The Mayor expressed concern about the condition of the residents’ homes, particularly those of Piping and Lala in RT 06 RW 12, Cilangkap Village, which had severe damage to their roofs.

“The situation is very concerning. Almost the entire roof is leaking and most of it is already fragile. If left alone, it could be dangerous,” he said.

He stated that the Depok City Government has prepared an emergency budget to help residents with severely damaged homes that require immediate attention, outside of the regular Uninhabitable House Rehabilitation (RTLH) program.

“This is urgent. We cannot wait until the 2027 RTLH program because the safety risk for residents is too high,” he explained.

The Mayor also instructed that the contingency budget be used immediately to repair houses in critical condition that were not registered in the current year’s repair program.

“I ask the district and village heads to continue actively monitoring their areas. If there are residents’ homes that endanger the occupants, report them immediately so they can be handled quickly,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, the Mayor mentioned that this year there are approximately 1,000 houses targeted by the RTLH program throughout Depok City, including 50 units in Cilangkap Village that are currently being worked on. However, he acknowledged that there are still some residents’ homes that have not been accommodated on that list.

While waiting for the repair process to proceed, the City Government is preparing temporary solutions for affected residents.

“For the time being, residents whose homes are damaged can stay in rental housing. I have asked the District Head and Village Head to help find workers and coordinate material needs. Once the funds are disbursed, we will pay immediately,” the Mayor stated.

This quick action was taken as a form of the Depok City Government’s commitment to ensure every resident has a safe and decent place to live, especially in emergency situations.
