DEPOK (05/06/2026) – The Presidential Palace is moving quickly to clear administrative bottlenecks in international diplomacy. President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, is scheduled to collectively receive the Letter of Credence from 17 Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of friendly nations. This sacred agenda, which marks the legal validation of the assignment of foreign diplomatic corps in Indonesia, will be executed on Monday, June 8, 2026.
The Minister of State Secretariat confirmed that the timeline for the submission of credentials has been deliberately condensed to the same day as the inauguration of state officials. This step was taken to prioritize the efficiency of the head of state’s operational time.
“To achieve work effectiveness, the draft submission of credential documents by the ambassadors is planned to take place on the same day, Monday, June 8, 2026. However, in terms of spatial arrangement and ceremonial forum, it will certainly be separated from the inauguration agenda,” explained the Minister at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday evening (04/06).
Periodization of the Staged Diplomatic Document Submission Scheme
Previously, President Prabowo had received similar diplomatic instruments from 12 Ambassadors on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. The Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that the submission of these position-complementing documents was indeed designed to be staged, adjusting to the fluctuating arrival times of each foreign representative in the country.
“In the November 2025 period, all pending credential drafts had their submission completed. The current accumulation is a calculation of the arrival process of ambassadors, which has been moving gradually from November until now,” clarified the Foreign Minister.
Despite the waiting period for document submission to the President, the Foreign Minister assured that the architecture of bilateral relations and Indonesia’s international cooperation commitments have not experienced any stagnation. Communication and protocol affairs continue to run adaptively. The Foreign Minister confirmed that he has conducted persuasive approaches with the majority of these ambassador candidates informally.
Spotlight on Reputation and Impact of Position Document Delays
The issue of the delayed submission of credentials had surfaced in the public sphere following critical notes from a former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Through a draft official statement on his social media account, he revealed an accumulation of pending files from 17 foreign ambassador candidates held in Jakarta without a clear timeline for a presidential audience.
Draft Analysis of Diplomatic Legal Impact:
Based on a protocol investigation draft, several foreign ambassadors were reported to have been left waiting for an official Palace schedule for six to eight months. As long as the Letter of Credence has not been directly submitted to the President as head of state, under international law, these ambassadors remain in a passive status and are prohibited from executing official duties or performing formal diplomatic functions in Indonesia.
He warned that overly prolonged delays risk distorting Indonesia’s diplomatic reputation globally and create a poor impression among strategic partner nations, especially within the ASEAN regional cluster.
“Without any intention of blaming any party’s work draft, this issue must absolutely be resolved thoroughly by the Palace. This is a crucial variable concerning the dignity and reputation of our foreign relations,” he concluded in his draft notes.
