The Depok City Government continues to push for improved access and quality of education through the development of adequate physical infrastructure.
The Depok City Housing and Settlement Office (Disrumkim) is currently constructing four new public schools, consisting of two junior high schools, one elementary school, and one madrasah.
This step is taken to address the increasing demand for classrooms due to the growing number of students across various regions of the city.
The construction is expected to strengthen basic education services and provide a more comfortable and representative learning environment.
The physical completion of all four schools is targeted by the end of 2025.
The Head of Disrumkim stated that the four schools are currently under construction.
“The two junior high schools in question are SMPN 3 Depok in Sukmajaya and SMPN 25 Depok in Sawangan. Additionally, the other constructions include SDN Kedaung and a Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Pancoran Mas,” he said.
He explained that construction began in May 2025, with a contract period of 180 to 195 working days.
Physical construction is targeted for completion by December 2025, with weekly monitoring and evaluation.
“Daily supervision is handled by field consultants, who also provide progress reports to us. This ensures continuous oversight,” he added.
The facilities being constructed include classrooms, a canteen, toilets, a prayer room, a sports field, and a library.
Additionally, there will be a teachers’ room, a student council room, a school health unit (UKS), storage and archives, and administrative offices.
“Hopefully, the construction will be completed on schedule, resulting in representative school buildings for both students and teachers,” he concluded.
Through this initiative, the Depok City Government demonstrates its commitment to providing equitable access to education and proper facilities.
It is hoped that these new schools will soon be operational and bring tangible benefits to the surrounding community.
