The case of the ‘ghost’ in Bekasi after residents lost money

Residents of Kempes Village, Sukamulya Village, Sukatani District, Bekasi Regency, were shocked by a rumor. The rumor emerged after residents lost money.

In a video uploaded on the Instagram account of the Bekasi Metro Police Public Relations, a woman who claimed to have lost money clarified the issue.

The woman admitted she had simply forgotten where she put her money. The money was found on the mattress.

“It (the money) was indeed on the mattress,” she said.

The RT Head stated that the rumor about the ‘living shroud ghost’ was a hoax.

“The issue about the viral video circulating on TikTok and Facebook, there actually is no such thing as a shroud ghost in Sukamulya Village,” he said.

The Sukatani Police Chief said that his team had gone to check the truth regarding the viral video. From the inspection at the location, no residents had actually seen the ‘living shroud ghost’.

“Based on the request for clarification, no one has seen it directly, it’s still just information,” he said.

Furthermore, he urged the public to remain calm and be wiser in responding to information circulating on social media.

The rumor about the appearance of a ‘living shroud ghost’ went viral on social media. In the circulating video recording, a number of residents were seen noisily shouting ‘Shroud ghost… shroud ghost… shroud ghost…’ while running around at night. The residents appeared to be chasing the mentioned figure.

The circulating narrative linked this ‘living’ shroud ghost to an incident where a resident lost 500 thousand Rupiah coinciding with the appearance of the ‘shroud ghost’. It was stated that the incident occurred on Friday night.
