Jakarta – The Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition 2025, also known as the Taiwan Higher Education Fair Indonesia (THEFI), officially kicked off in Jakarta and will continue in four other cities: Bandung, Makassar, Surabaya, and Medan, from August 9 to 17, 2025.

A total of 66 prestigious universities from Taiwan are participating in the exhibition, marking the highest number of higher education institutions compared to previous education fairs.

The exhibition, officially opened on August 9, 2025, is organized by the Taiwan Alumni Association of Indonesia in collaboration with the Overseas Chinese Student Admission Committee, with support from Taiwan’s Ministry of Education and the Taiwan Representative Office in Indonesia.

The event aims to increase Indonesian students’ interest in pursuing higher education in Taiwan while strengthening academic cooperation between Taiwan and Indonesia. It is expected to attract over 10,000 visitors, including students, parents, and educators.

During the opening ceremony, Deputy Representative of Taiwan emphasized Taiwan’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with Indonesia. He highlighted the strengths of Taiwan’s higher education system, the diversity of English-taught programs, affordable tuition fees, and significant opportunities in the global semiconductor industry.

“We invite Indonesian students to pursue higher education in Taiwan and contribute to closer bilateral relations,” he said.

According to the QS World University Rankings 2026, three Taiwanese universities rank among the top 200 globally, demonstrating their quality and international competitiveness. Indonesia is the second-largest source of international students in Taiwan, with nearly 17,000 enrolled students.

Through THEFI 2025, the organizers hope to broaden Indonesian students’ understanding of Taiwan, develop the potential of Indonesia’s younger generation, and enhance academic exchanges while strengthening Taiwan-Indonesia relations.
