Bekasi – Five people were electrocuted and three died in North Cikarang, Bekasi Regency. The incident caused onlookers to scream in panic.
The incident occurred in Kampung Cibeureum RT 03 RW 03, Mekarmukti Village, North Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency, on Tuesday (June 2) afternoon. The event was captured on amateur video and went viral on social media.
In the video circulating on social media, a group from a sisingaan art performance was initially seen pushing a sound system cart over 2 meters high. Suddenly, the group was electrocuted.
The incident immediately caused residents watching from the roadside to panic. The victims were seen lying on the asphalt.
“Oh God… oh God,” residents screamed.
3 Dead
The Bekasi Metro Police Chief stated that there were five victims electrocuted in the incident. Three of them died.
“As a result of the incident, three people died: G (18), J (20), and R (29),” said the Bekasi Metro Police Chief on Wednesday (June 3, 2026).
Meanwhile, two others, R (18) and R M (22), were taken to Radjak Cibeureum Hospital in North Cikarang for medical treatment.
The incident began when the sisingaan group was about to resume walking after resting. One member on top of the sound system allegedly tried to lift an electrical cable with their hand.
The electric current then allegedly spread to several people around the iron sound system cart. In the circulating video, several people were seen collapsing after being electrocuted.
The Police Chief also visited the victims being treated at Radjak Cibeureum Hospital as a form of attention and concern for the victims and affected families. He also ensured that the victims received necessary medical care.
“Police officers have visited the scene, checked the location, set up police lines, questioned several witnesses, and coordinated with the hospital. The Inafis team from Bekasi Metro Police has also processed the scene to collect preliminary evidence,” he stated.
As of now, police are still investigating the exact cause of the incident. The preliminary suspicion is that the victims were electrocuted by current from an electrical network cable near the activity location.
