Jakarta – arrested four youths who were about to engage in a brawl in the East Bekasi area, Bekasi City, West Java. They were arrested while allegedly preparing for a brawl.

“Officers secured four youths found carrying various types of sharp weapons and dangerous blunt weapons,” said the Commander of Brimob Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Henik Maryanto, on Thursday (June 4, 2026).

The four were arrested while police were conducting a patrol early this morning around 2:30 AM local time. The patrol is routinely conducted to anticipate security disturbances.

“While passing through the area, officers noticed a group of youths with suspicious movements, strongly suspected to be preparing for a brawl,” he said.

The youths initially attempted to disperse upon seeing the police. However, they were apprehended before the brawl could occur.

“From the four youths secured, officers seized several crucial pieces of evidence prepared for the violent act, including one golf club, one machete, one sickle, one modified sharp weapon, and one mobile phone allegedly used to coordinate with the opposing group,” he revealed.

This action, according to him, reflects a commitment to maintaining security in the area both preventively and repressively. They were then taken to the police station for further investigation.

“We acted swiftly to anticipate potential friction in public spaces, especially during vulnerable early morning hours. This effort is carried out to ensure there is no room for street criminals or brawl actions that could disturb the public,” he added.
