Bekasi Metro City Police and Pondok Gede Police Station were targeted by riots. Dozens of suspected rioters were arrested by the police.

“A total of 66 suspected rioters have been secured by Bekasi Metro City Police,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit on Tuesday (2/9/2025).

The dozens of individuals were secured on Saturday (30/8) and Sunday (30/8). The suspected rioters were arrested for causing disturbances at two different locations, namely Pondok Gede Police Station and Bekasi Metro City Police.

“18 people were secured at the Pondok Gede Police Station crime scene, (consisting of) 9 adults and 9 minors,” he said.

The suspected perpetrators at the Pondok Gede Police Station crime scene face legal processing under Articles 170, 160, 212, 214, 216, and 218 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, 48 suspected rioters were secured for attacking. They consist of 34 adults and 14 minors.

The suspected perpetrators from the Bekasi Metro City Police crime scene are still under investigation.

“The suspected perpetrators are believed to have intended to cause riots at the Pondok Gede Police Station Headquarters and Bekasi Metro City Police Headquarters,” he said.

The legal process for the suspected rioters is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Bekasi Metro City Police. The handling of suspected minor perpetrators is being conducted jointly with the Bekasi City Women’s and Children’s Empowerment and Protection Service, Bekasi City Correctional Center, and the Indonesian Child Protection Commission.
