BEKASI CITY – A wave of division issues has instead strengthened the solidarity of the Bekasi City Online Journalists Association (IWO). This organization, which brings together digital media personnel, responded to the accusations by holding a consolidation and fellowship meeting among its management at Wulansari on Wednesday (20/08/25).
The event, attended by a representative of the Bekasi City Government, further solidified the role of IWO Bekasi City as a pillar of the press in the local region.
The existence of IWO itself originated from the need for a special forum for online journalists, which is rapidly developing. This organization was formed to oversee, empower, and enforce journalistic ethics in the realm of online media.
Attending to show support were the Head of the Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) of Bekasi City, and an IWO Mentor who is also a public policy observer. The meeting was also attended by all members of the core management team.
Responding to the circulating issues, the Chairman of IWO Bekasi City emphasized that the organization remains strong and active.
“IWO Bekasi is not shaken by unpleasant issues. On the contrary, we are becoming more solid and focused on our journalistic role to present accurate and constructive news,” he stated.
Furthermore, he emphasized IWO Bekasi’s commitment to carrying out its function of social control over the policies of the Bekasi City Government.
“We will continue to provide critical oversight of the government’s performance, in this case Mayor Tri Adhianto and Deputy Mayor Abdul Harris Bobihoe. That is the noble duty of the press as the fourth pillar of democracy,” he asserted.
All attending management members expressed their readiness to support the organization’s steps. This consolidation was deemed important to align visions and formulate future news reporting strategies to be more professional and independent.
