Bandung –
The Bandung City Government raided a disco in the Ciumbuleuit area of Bandung City on Tuesday night (26/8). The disco dared to hold an event titled ‘Foam Party’, which drew criticism from the public.
The raid was led directly by the Deputy Mayor of Bandung. In a statement, the venue was given a warning after holding the ‘Foam Party’ event because it drew criticism.
“This harms the citizens of Bandung. Entertainment is allowed, as long as there is a permit and it does not violate local regulations. If proven to be in violation, we will seal it. If not, management must make a statement that they will not repeat it,” the Deputy Mayor said.
So What Exactly is a ‘Foam Party’?
Based on an investigation through several videos circulating on social media, a ‘Foam Party’ is one of the themes offered by nightlife entertainment venues. The concept is quite attention-grabbing because partygoers are treated to soap foam scattered throughout the party area of the entertainment venue.
However, this foam party did not escape criticism. Many parties considered the action too vulgar because the partygoers became soaking wet and revealed their body contours.
Because of this condition, the Deputy Mayor emphasized that the government will not tolerate entertainment activities that contradict regulations or damage public morals. This event, which went viral on social media, was said to feature inappropriate scenes and even exposed private parts.
The Deputy Mayor stated that the Bandung City Government received many reports from the public and community organizations who were concerned about this activity. Therefore, this incident serves as an important reminder for all parties, including entertainment venue managers, to comply with applicable regulations.
“We are not prohibiting entertainment, but it must not harm the vision of a pious Bandung that we are building,” he said.
Preliminary inspection results showed that Brotherhood Bunker has complete business permits. Permit documents, ranging from restaurant, bar, nightclub, disco permits, to permits for trading alcoholic beverages categories A, B, and C, have been fulfilled. Taxes and excise duties are also monitored to be running.
However, the Civil Service Police Unit assessed that there was management negligence in collaborating with an event organizer (EO) that instead held a rule-breaking event. As a follow-up, the Bandung City Government asked the management of Brotherhood Bunker to make an official statement letter promising not to repeat similar mistakes.
The government will also impose strict sanctions if proven to violate local regulations, including the possibility of sealing. The Deputy Mayor reminded management to be more selective in choosing event organizing partners.
“Please screen EOs. Do not let there be any more incidents like this,” he said.
In a statement, the management of Brotherhood Bunker conveyed an apology to the people of Bandung City. They emphasized that they would conduct an internal evaluation and terminate cooperation with the involved EO.
“We apologize profusely to the citizens of Bandung. We will ensure this does not happen again in the future,” they concluded.
