Western Sydney Wanderers expressed enthusiasm about their upcoming friendly match against Persib Bandung, scheduled for this weekend.
According to the assistant coach, this game is a valuable opportunity for the team to test their strength against a major club with a long history in Asia.
“First of all, thank you for the invitation. It’s an honor for us to come here and face Persib, a big club in Indonesia and Asia, which is about to start its league and AFC Champions League campaign,” said Arrarte.
Arrarte revealed that the team is still in the early stages of preseason preparation. Therefore, the friendly against Persib will be crucial for building fitness and team strategy ahead of the Australian competition season.
“From our side, we are still in the early stages of preparation and don’t yet know our next opponents. So, Saturday’s match is very important for preparing for the domestic competition in Australia,” he added.
Although it’s not an official match, Arrarte remains cautious about Persib’s strength. He highlighted several key players from Maung Bandung who could pose a real threat on the field.
“Persib has many important players. One of them is Guaycochea, as well as Marc Klok, Wiliam, Beckham, and their new goalkeeper. They all have quality and experience, and I believe they will bring a different dynamic to the team’s play,” he explained.
Arrarte stated that the arrival of new players at Persib is a smart move by coach Bojan Hodak to build a competitive team ready to challenge in both the league and Asian competitions.
“Coach Bojan brought them in to strengthen the squad and push the team toward this season’s targets,” he said.
