Bandung Goes Global, Asia Africa Festival 2025 Promotes World Brotherhood Spirit

The spirit of cross-national togetherness once again resonated in the heart of Bandung City. Thousands of residents packed the Asia Africa Street area on Saturday, witnessing the grandeur of the vibrant and colorful Asia Africa Festival (AAF) 2025.

The Deputy Mayor of Bandung expressed pride and happiness over the success of this annual cultural event.

According to them, AAF serves not only as public entertainment but also as a symbol of international brotherhood and solidarity, reinforcing Bandung’s role as a historic city in the world’s eyes.

“Bandung is certainly a source of pride. With Asia Africa, Bandung becomes more legendary and global. I am very pleased and happy that Asia Africa Festival 2025 was welcomed with joy and full enthusiasm. All delegations attended, with 16 delegations participating,” said the Deputy Mayor after attending the peak event on Asia Africa Street.

The Deputy Mayor also expressed appreciation to all parties who contributed to organizing AAF 2025.

They considered the event’s success as a result of close collaboration between the government, cultural communities, and the public.

“I thank the mayor, regents, and all government elements present here, including support from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and sponsors. All stakeholders from province, city, to regency levels played important roles in presenting their best cultures at this festival,” they stated.

Carrying the theme New Generation of Asia Africa Spirit, 2025 featured a series of activities across various points in Bandung City. These included art performances in Cibiru and Ujungberung, cultural showcases at Mayang Sunda, and closing events at Hotel Savoy Homann and Grand Preanger – two historic venues that were important parts of the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference.

The Deputy Mayor mentioned that although this year’s concept was simpler compared to previous editions, its meaning was deeper and more touching.

They believed that the spirit of mutual cooperation and creativity of Bandung residents became the main energy that brought this festival to life.

“This festival represents real collaboration between the government and the community. Although simpler than previous years, it feels more touching and meaningful. There were dances from all delegations that were incredibly beautiful,” they said.

One performance that particularly impressed the Deputy Mayor was the pencak silat from the Indonesian delegation. They described this traditional martial art as a symbol of elegance, strength, and cultural philosophy of the nation.

“All performances were good, but the most memorable for me was pencak silat. That’s my favorite because it depicts our national identity,” they expressed.
