December serves as a moment of reflection for the Cahaya Cinta Kasih Foundation (YCCK) on its journey of humanitarian service. Coinciding with YCCK’s anniversary and taking place in the month that also commemorates Mother’s Day, YCCK views this celebration not just as an expression of gratitude, but as a call to bring love tangibly to those in need.
Amid increasingly rapid social change, the elderly are one of the groups most vulnerable to limitations, whether in health, social interaction, or emotional care. The elderly need not only their basic needs met, but also presence, appreciation, and a sense of being loved.
Based on this concern, YCCK, through its SOUL Action program, carried out the SOUL Action Sharing Love activity at the Titian Benteng Gading Nursing Home in West Bandung Regency. This activity involved the SOUL Community Bandung & Surroundings, medical personnel, volunteers, and donors who entrusted their support through YCCK.
A total of 24 elderly residents participated in a series of activities starting with a joint prayer and greetings, followed by the symbolic handover of donations, distribution of basic necessity packages, and simple health check-ups. The atmosphere of togetherness grew warmer through group singing, a SOUL Reflection reading, and direct interaction that built emotional closeness between volunteers and the elderly.
The Regional Coordinator of the SOUL Community Bandung & Surroundings expressed appreciation to all involved parties. “Thank you to all donors who have contributed through YCCK. May what has been given be returned manifold. We carry out this activity in the spirit of YCCK’s anniversary and the December moment, as a form of real loving service to our elderly friends.”
This activity also provided a meaningful experience for the young volunteers. A representative of students from a Bandung university shared her impression: “This SOUL Action activity was very enjoyable because we could interact directly with the elderly. We learned a lot about empathy and togetherness, and hope to participate in the next SOUL Action activity again.” From the Titian Benteng Gading Nursing Home, the founders expressed gratitude for the visit.
“We are very grateful for the presence of our friends from SOUL who brought very positive energy. We feel loved and cared for. The donations provided are a great help for us to continue serving the elderly here. May YCCK continue to be an extension of God’s loving hand.” Words of thanks also came directly from one of the elderly residents: “I am very grateful YCCK visited our home. I hope activities like this continue and our fellowship remains strong.”
Through the SOUL Action Sharing Love, the Cahaya Cinta Kasih Foundation affirms that celebrating the foundation’s anniversary is not merely a ceremony, but is realized in service actions that directly touch people’s lives. By bringing love, care, and presence, SOUL hopes to continue to be a space for the growth of human values and social solidarity.
