Bandung City Government ensures it will not provide any room for nighttime entertainment activities that violate regulations or moral norms. This affirmation was stated by the Deputy Mayor of Bandung one day after conducting a surprise inspection at the Brotherhood Bunker entertainment venue, which went viral for holding an event.

During a joint inspection with the Bandung City Civil Service Police Unit, it was revealed that the examination results showed Brotherhood Bunker has complete business permits. The permit documents include restaurant, bar, nightclub, discotheque, and trade in alcoholic beverages categories A, B, and C, with taxes and excise monitored according to regulations.

“We have checked all their permits, including music permits and excise duties for alcoholic beverages. Everything is complete. So we cannot conduct confiscation because there are no administrative violations in the permits. If they didn’t have permits, we would have taken firm action from the beginning,” he said after attending an event on Asia Afrika Street.

According to him, although no administrative violations were found, the Civil Service Police Unit assessed that there was negligence by the management who partnered with an Event Organizer (EO) to hold an event featuring inappropriate entertainment that drew public protests.

“They collaborated with an EO, and the event produced things that violated moral norms. Therefore, we asked the management to make a written statement not to repeat such activities, whether organized by themselves or by third parties,” he said.

He emphasized that the Bandung City Government’s steps are not just about imposing sanctions, but ensuring the integrity and image of Bandung City remains maintained.

“This is not just about punishment, but about keeping Bandung in line with the vision of a religious and cultured city. Don’t let Bandung’s image be tarnished by disturbing entertainment activities,” he stressed.

Furthermore, he added that the Bandung City Government also reminded entertainment venue management to be more selective in choosing event organizing partners. If similar violations recur, the government is ready to impose firm sanctions up to sealing the business premises.

“We don’t prohibit nighttime entertainment, but it must comply with permits and not violate local regulations. If proven to violate, the consequences are clear,” he stated.

Previously, a joint inspection was conducted following the viral event at Brotherhood Bunker which was deemed to feature inappropriate scenes and show indecent exposure. The event received public condemnation and community organizations that felt disturbed and urged the government to act quickly.

The Head of Bandung City Civil Service Police Unit added that his office would summon the management and EO for further examination.

“Their business permits are complete, but there was negligence in the collaboration. We will investigate this further to prevent recurrence,” he explained.

Bandung City Government Ready to Face Lawsuit from Former Bandung Zoo Management

Bandung City Government affirmed its readiness to face the civil lawsuit filed by the former management of Tamansari Wildlife Foundation (YMT), as the previous manager of Bandung Zoo. The lawsuit is officially registered at the Bandung District Court with case number 377/Pdt.G/2025/PN Bdg and listed in the Case Tracking Information System (SIPP).

The Deputy Mayor of Bandung considered the legal steps taken by the plaintiff to be the right of every citizen. The city government does not object to the lawsuit and ensures all legal processes will be responded to according to regulations.

“Everyone has the right to sue. We are ready to respond through the legal department of the City Government,” he said after attending the Socialization of Integrity Assessment Survey and Gratification Control Program at Grand Preanger Bandung.

He explained that the Bandung City Government has prepared a legal team to handle this case.

“If it goes to court, our Legal Section will handle the entire process. All preparations have been made,” he said.

On the other hand, the spokesperson for the former management confirmed the lawsuit was filed. According to him, the dispute relates to the certificate of land use rights for the zoo which has long been a point of disagreement between the foundation and Bandung City Government.

“Yes, regarding the certificate of land use rights,” he said, without detailing further the substance of the lawsuit.
