A break-in at a Pawnshop Cooperative (KSP) on Cilampeni Road, Katapang Village, Katapang District, Bandung Regency, resulted in losses of approximately Rp153 million.
The case was successfully uncovered by the Bandung Police Criminal Investigation Unit together with Katapang Police Station. Six perpetrators were arrested, two of whom were .
The case began with a report from a shop employee who discovered his shop had been broken into on Friday (26/9) morning.
“The losses amount to approximately Rp153 million. The incident was discovered around 07:30 WIB and is estimated to have occurred in the early morning around 02:00,” said the police chief during a press conference at Bandung Police Headquarters.
After receiving the report, Katapang Police Station together with the Bandung Police Criminal Investigation Unit team immediately processed the crime scene and collected evidence.
From the investigation results, police successfully arrested the first suspect on October 6, 2025 at Caringin Market, Bandung City.
Information from this suspect led officers to four other perpetrators.
“The three of them were then arrested on October 7, 2025 in a rented house in the Babakan Ciparay area, Bandung City. Additionally, we also secured a receiver in Lampung,” explained the police chief.
According to the investigation, the stolen items consisting of 67 mobile phone units and five laptops were sold to Lampung with a total value of approximately Rp35 million.
“From the examination results, it was discovered that one perpetrator had a connection with the receiver who came from South Lampung,” he added.
Police confiscated 70 mobile phones of various brands and five laptops as evidence, consisting of 18 Oppo units, 10 Vivo, 7 Realme, 5 Samsung, and several other brands such as Infinix, Redmi, and Tecno.
The police chief stated that before breaking into the Pawnshop Cooperative, the perpetrators had also stolen approximately 500 packs of cigarettes from a grocery store.
“They acted randomly without specific targets. Before going to the location, they had planned the theft in a rented house in the Babakan Ciparay area,” he revealed.
It is known that two main perpetrators worked as parking attendants around the incident location.
“Both of them damaged the shop door and safe using crowbars. Two other perpetrators brought tools to the crime scene, while two others acted as receivers,” said the police chief.
The investigation results also revealed that two perpetrators had previous theft cases, while another had been involved in a narcotics case. All perpetrators are now detained at Bandung Police Detention Center.
“For their actions, the suspects are charged with Article 363 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with the threat of nine years in prison. Meanwhile, the two receivers are charged with Article 480 of the Criminal Code with a threat of four years,” he emphasized.
