Bandung – Diponegoro Street in Bandung will be temporarily closed from April 30 to August 7, 2026, due to an expansion project of the Gedung Sate and Gasibu area.

Gedung Sate

Gedung Sate is a historic Dutch colonial-era building located in Bandung, Indonesia, completed in 1920. Originally serving as the administrative office for the Dutch East Indies’ Department of Public Works, its name comes from the distinctive satay-skewer-like ornament on its central tower. Today, it functions as the seat of the West Java provincial government and is a prominent architectural landmark.

Gasibu

Gasibu is a historic field and public square located in Bandung, Indonesia, directly facing the Gedung Sate, the iconic West Java governor’s office. Originally built during the Dutch colonial era in the 1920s as a military training ground, it later became a popular venue for public gatherings, sports, and cultural events. Today, Gasibu is a vibrant social hub, known for its Sunday car-free day market where locals and tourists enjoy food, shopping, and recreation against a backdrop of colonial-era architecture.
