Two trucks were involved in a traffic accident on Jalan Raya Bypass Cicalengka, Kampung Cipeutag, Tenjolaya Village, Cicalengka District, Bandung Regency, Thursday (June 4, 2026). In the incident, two people died at the scene.

The Head of Traffic Unit of Bandung Police said the accident occurred at 2:50 AM local time. Joint officers then evacuated both vehicles until 9:30 AM local time.

“Yes, a traffic accident occurred on Jalan Bypass Cicalengka early this morning at 2:50 AM,” he said when met at the Bandung Police Headquarters in Soreang, Thursday (June 4, 2026).

The vehicles involved in the accident were a Hino losbak truck with license plate A-9588-TZ carrying wood, and a Mitsubishi light truck with license plate D-8487-DI carrying sand.

“The Hino truck carrying wood was driven by a man with initials WAS (29) and a helper with initials DAL (28). The Mitsubishi truck carrying sand was driven by WS (39) and a helper with initials AS (39),” he said.

The incident began when the Hino truck carrying wood, driven by WAS with his helper DAL, was traveling from Garut to Bandung. Upon arriving at the scene, the Hino truck driver allegedly lost control.

“So it hit the rear of the Mitsubishi truck (carrying sand) that was in front of it going in the same direction, with license plate D-8487-DI driven by WS and his helper AS,” he explained.

He explained that the Mitsubishi truck carrying sand in front then directly hit a wall on the roadside. Due to the hard impact, two people died at the scene.

“The helper of the Hino truck (carrying wood) with initials DAL died and the driver of the Mitsubishi truck (carrying sand) with initials WS died,” he said.

“The survivors are the driver of the Hino truck carrying wood with initials WAS and the helper of the Mitsubishi truck with initials AS. Both suffered minor injuries,” he added.

He added that his team is currently still examining the Hino truck driver, WAS. This is being done to uncover the exact cause of the fatal accident.

“For our preliminary suspicion, we are still examining the Hino truck driver (carrying wood); the examination is still ongoing. However, information circulating suggests drowsiness, but we cannot confirm it yet; the results of the driver’s examination will determine that,” he concluded.
