The blame for the defeat was also placed on Saayoni, who sings ‘Heart has Kaaba, eyes Medina’

Let us tell you that the blame for the defeat of Mamata Banerjee’s party in West Bengal was also placed on Saayoni Ghosh, the famous Bengali film actress and MP from Jadavpur. Several TMC spokespersons themselves blamed Abhishek Banerjee’s dictatorship within the party and other outspoken leaders for the loss. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party gave over a dozen reasons for the TMC’s electoral defeat, one of which was the song of Saayoni Ghosh, who handled major promotional responsibilities for the Trinamool Congress, a song that drew the largest crowds to her rallies to hear and see it. Saayoni would sing in her sweet voice: ‘Hriday ma che Kaaba and nayan Madina…’ meaning ‘Heart has Kaaba and eyes have Medina.’

Several leaders, including BJP firebrand leader and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, exploited Saayoni Ghosh’s campaign in such a way that this song eventually backfired on the TMC.
