Eight Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by the police of Nimta police station in North 24 Parganas on charges of illegal infiltration. A person named Shahidul Islam was also arrested for allegedly providing them shelter. Multiple documents including Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, e-ration cards, birth certificates, bank debit and credit cards were recovered from the arrested individuals. Bangladeshi birth certificates were also found. It is alleged that they had created documents and started living there during the Trinamool government’s tenure.
According to police sources, during patrol duty on Sunday, a person named Suman Gain was seen moving suspiciously in the Golbagan market area and was detained. During interrogation, he confessed to being a Bangladeshi citizen. Later, a raid was conducted at a rented house in the Nandannagar Amtala area of Belghoria. Multiple documents including Aadhaar, PAN, e-ration card, birth certificate, Axis Bank debit and credit cards were recovered in his name. It is being verified whether these are genuine or fake. Cash amounting to 22,910 rupees was also seized.

During interrogation, Suman Gain revealed the names of two other Bangladeshis, Baharul Mandal and Abdul Rahman Sardar, to the police. Subsequently, they were arrested during a raid in the Fataullapur area of Nimta. Investigators claim that the arrested individuals were involved in creating fake Indian identity documents for new infiltrators arriving from Bangladesh. The arrested individuals are Suman Gain, Baharul Mandal, Abdul Rahman Sardar, Riyaz Mandal, Ilish Sardar, Jahara Bibi, Anwara Bibi, Sumi Bibi, and Shahidul Islam. Police have filed a case against them under the Immigration and Foreigners Act for entering and residing in India without valid documents. The police are also investigating where they got the documents made and who helped them in this work.
