Hyderabad, The inter-regional badminton tournament organized by Powergrid Southern Region-1 was inaugurated today at K.V.B.R. Indoor Stadium, Yusufguda, Hyderabad. The tournament, which will run until July 26, features badminton players from various regional units of Powergrid across the country. The aim of the tournament is to promote camaraderie, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among employees.

During the inauguration ceremony, an executive director (Southern Region-1) highlighted the deeper values associated with sports while addressing the participants. He stated that badminton is not just a test of speed and skill but also demands concentration, balance under pressure, and strategic thinking. He encouraged players to prioritize sportsmanship and character over scores and trophies, reminding them that every point reflects their dedication and preparation.

Exciting Tournament with Strong Team Participation

A chief general manager (Human Resources) drew parallels between Powergrid’s work culture and the sport of badminton. He emphasized that qualities like vigilance, discipline, and energy are essential for excellence in both fields. Participants from all regional units of Powergrid are competing in the tournament, including Corporate Center (CC), Northern Region-1 (NR-1), Northern Region-2 (NR-2), Northern Region-3 (NR-3), Eastern Region-1 (ER-1), Eastern Region-2 (ER-2), North-Eastern Region (NER), Southern Region-1 (SR-1), Southern Region-2 (SR-2), Western Region-1 (WR-1), and Western Region-2 (WR-2).

Each team consists of six male and six female players, with a total of 132 players participating in the competition. The tournament is being organized by the Telangana Badminton Association. The results are as follows: Men’s Team: ER defeated NR-3 (3-0), NR-2 defeated WR-2 (3-2), NR-1 defeated SR-1 (3-0), CC defeated SR-2 (3-1), SR-1 defeated ER-1 (3-0), ER-2 defeated NR-3 (3-0), NER defeated WR-2 (3-0), CC defeated WR-1 (3-2), NR-2 defeated WR-1 (3-1), SR-2 defeated NER (3-0). Women’s Team: WR-2 defeated NR-2 (2-0), NER defeated WR-2 (2-0), WR-1 defeated NR-1 (2-0), SR-1 defeated ER-1 (2-0), CC defeated SR-1 (2-0), SR-2 defeated NR-3 (2-0).
