Hyderabad, Hyderabad Police has launched a special awareness campaign in collaboration with social media influencers, aiming to curb the rising cybercrimes. Under this initiative named ‘Aware Hyderabad – Secure Hyderabad’, the general public is being made aware of new methods of digital fraud in simple and understandable language.

Posting on social media, the City Police Commissioner stated that under this campaign, social media creators are providing information on how to protect oneself from cases like lottery scams, so-called “digital arrest” frauds, scams by impersonating fake officials, and OTP traps through short videos. It was said that by utilizing the reach of social media, cybersecurity messages can be rapidly disseminated to people.

Appeal made to spread awareness about security

The official clarified that no government agency conducts investigations via video calls. Under no circumstances should one share OTP, banking details, or personal financial information.

In case of cyber fraud, immediately contact the helpline number 1930 or file a complaint on the portal. An appeal has also been made to the influencers involved in the campaign to responsibly use their digital platforms to spread awareness about cybersecurity among people.
