Rome, May 19, 2026. PM Modi held a joint press conference today with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni. During this, he said, “I thank PM Meloni for welcoming me and my delegation.” He also invited Giorgia Meloni to visit India.

Modi said that Rome is called the ‘Eternal City’ in the world. Similarly, my Lok Sabha constituency Kashi in India is also known that way. When two civilizations meet, the conversation is not limited to just the agenda. It shows the depth of history, a glimpse of the future, and the simplicity of friendship.

Meanwhile, Meloni said that Italy and India are closer than ever before. Our relationship has now reached a stage where it can show its full potential. In the last three and a half years, I have had 7 meetings with PM Modi.

She said that during these meetings, we have deeply understood each other’s perspectives. We have built an honest friendship based on respect and mutual trust.

Diplomatic experts say that the growing relationship between India and Italy could give new strength to strategic cooperation between Europe and Asia. Opportunities for collaboration between the two countries in defense production, green energy, manufacturing, and the technology sector are continuously increasing.

In recent years, the meetings between Prime Minister Modi and Giorgia Meloni have also been a topic of discussion on international platforms. In this context, the invitation to visit India is seen as a step that will further accelerate the political and economic relations between the two countries.
