The Kishanganj police have taken swift action based on a video of celebratory firing that went viral on social media, registering a case against two individuals. The incident is linked to the Pauakhali police station area, where a video showed illegal firing during a celebration.
After reviewing the video, the police identified the accused as Ahmed Hussain, also known as Lallu (former village head of Pauakhali Panchayat), and Mohammad Hanif (current ward councilor for Ward Number 03, Pauakhali Nagar Panchayat).
Acting on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, Santosh Kumar, a team comprising the Thakurganj Sub-Divisional Police Officer, the Pauakhali Station House Officer, and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer immediately initiated action. As a result, Pauakhali police station case number 59/26 was registered on April 22, 2026.
The accused have been charged under Section 292/3(5) of the Indian Justice Code and Section 25(9) of the Arms Act.
During a raid, the police arrested Mohammad Hanif. During interrogation, Hanif stated that the weapon used in the celebratory firing belonged to Ahmed Hussain, also known as Lallu. Following this, the police also raided Lallu’s house, but he was found to be absconding. Currently, continuous efforts are being made to arrest him and recover the weapon.
The arrested accused, Mohammad Hanif, son of the late Sameer Uddin, is a resident of Simalwari and currently serves as a ward councilor. The police have made it clear that no one involved in such illegal activities will be spared, regardless of their position or influence.
The police have also warned the public that celebratory firing is a serious crime in Bihar. Weapons licenses are issued only for self-defense or legitimate reasons, not for firing during celebrations. Such acts can lead to the seizure of the weapon and cancellation of the license.
