Anand Mohan: The temperature of rhetoric in Bihar’s politics has risen significantly these days. Former MP and strongman leader Anand Mohan has launched such an attack on his own allied party, JD(U), that it has intensified political activity in the state. Notably, his wife Lovely Anand is an MP from JD(U), while his son Chetan Anand is a party MLA.

Despite this, Anand Mohan directly questioned the party’s working style, the process of appointing ministers, and the political position of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. After his statement in Sitamarhi, JD(U) leaders have also opened a front, and discomfort within the party has become clearly visible.

Anand Mohan thunders in Sitamarhi

Anand Mohan, arriving at a preparatory meeting for the Maharana Pratap statue installation ceremony held at a hotel on Dumra Road in Sitamarhi, said that JD(U) is no longer the party it used to be. He alleged that ‘bag politics’ is now prevalent in the party, and whoever brings money becomes a minister.

He said that today, people are active in the party who are taking advantage of Nitish Kumar’s vulnerability. Anand Mohan claimed that many decisions of the government and the party are now being made under the influence of such people, which is weakening the organization.

‘Nitish Kumar has been buried alive’

In his statement, Anand Mohan launched the biggest attack, saying, “Nitish Kumar has been politically buried alive.” He said that the Chief Minister’s face is not even visible on the government’s posters, banners, and official boards. Even the Deputy CM’s name is being omitted from many places.

Referring to the swearing-in ceremony, he said that 85 MLAs were present with the Chief Minister at that time, but their importance was not shown in the publicity. Anand Mohan said that some people are deliberately engaged in destroying the party’s core identity.

Also spoke on not making his son a minister

On the question of Chetan Anand not being made a minister, Anand Mohan said that some people are trying to spread the narrative that he is angry for his son. He said this is completely wrong.

He claimed that people are active within the party who have started the work of “packing up and leaving” JD(U), and the entire NDA is suffering from this. Anand Mohan said that in recent elections, the public has also responded to “bag politics.”

Also mentioned Vashishtha Narayan Singh

Questioning the method of ticket distribution and giving positions in the party, Anand Mohan cited the example of senior leader Vashishtha Narayan Singh’s family. He said that when Nitish Kumar was fully active, many decisions were made differently, but now the situation has changed. He alleged that old leaders are being ignored in the party and decisions are being made on the basis of money.

Leshi Singh counterattacks

After Anand Mohan’s statement, Bihar government minister Leshi Singh gave a strong reaction. She said that no person is powerful enough to destroy Nitish Kumar’s political existence. Leshi Singh said that the Chief Minister has a strong hold among the poor, women, and deprived sections of Bihar, and millions of people stand with him. She said that such rhetoric is like challenging the party leadership.

‘It is not possible to become a minister through a bag in JD(U)’

Leshi Singh outright rejected Anand Mohan’s allegations, saying that in JD(U), ministers or positions have never been given on the basis of money. She said that only Nitish Kumar decides who should be given responsibility in the party and government.

She also said that all leaders in the party respect the Chief Minister’s decisions and no one should make such comments publicly.

Party leadership’s eye on action

Leshi Singh indicated that the party leadership is keeping an eye on the entire matter. However, she did not clarify whether any action would be taken against Anand Mohan, but she did say that such rhetoric against the leadership cannot be tolerated.

After Anand Mohan’s statement in Bihar’s politics, a new discussion has started within JD(U). The opposition is also keeping an eye on this controversy,
