Auto Driver Assaults Rapido Driver: Bengaluru police have registered a case based on a viral video showing an auto-rickshaw driver breaking a bike taxi rider’s helmet, abusing him, and issuing threats. The video was widely shared on social media and faced heavy criticism. The bike taxi driver is reportedly from the Northeast and works with Rapido.

In the video, the auto driver can be heard claiming that Rapido was operating illegally. He alleged that the bike taxi rider came from another country and was taking business away from other auto drivers. He called it a threat to the auto industry.

Police Take Immediate Action
The video was recorded by a witness who later posted it on Twitter, tagging the police and demanding action. Bengaluru police promptly acknowledged the tweet and assured strict action against the accused. The Bengaluru City Police responded in a tweet, stating that Indiranagar police were investigating the incident and would take necessary legal steps.

Strict action should be taken against this auto driver under the law.

Meanwhile, other social media users condemned the incident, with some questioning the police. One user wrote, “I have the auto’s number—KA03AJ6248. He was extremely rude to the Rapido driver and even snatched his helmet.” They added that if bike taxis were illegal, the government would have banned them.

Legal Case Against Rapido Still Pending

Another social media user commented that those criticizing the auto driver should note that Rapido’s case is still in court. As per regulations, white-board vehicles cannot be used for taxis. Despite operating as taxis, white-numbered vehicles do not pay additional RTO taxes and lack insurance, posing a risk to passengers.
