The news of divorce between Indian cricket team’s star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma dominated social media this year. The couple had married in 2020, but their relationship ended within five years. Now, Indian cricket team’s veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has publicly responded for the first time about his personal life, openly addressing his pain, mental state, and rumors in a podcast interview.
“I never cheated” – Chahal
Speaking on the podcast, Yuzvendra Chahal made it clear that whatever happened between him and Dhanashree, he never betrayed anyone. He said, “I have never cheated on anyone in my life. Those who know me understand that I believe in loyalty. I have always valued others and cared more about my relationships than myself.”
Chahal clarifies cryptic T-shirt
Chahal also spoke about the ‘cryptic message T-shirt’ he wore on the day of his divorce. He stated that it was not intentional and that he did not want to give any hints. He was simply trying to cope at the time and believed it was better to stay silent until the divorce was finalized.
Tried to uphold the relationship till the end
Chahal clarified that he and Dhanashree had mutually agreed to divorce and decided not to make any public statements until everything was finalized. He said, “We wanted to behave like a normal couple on social media until everything was finalized so that no one would suspect anything and things wouldn’t get worse.”
Chahal speaks on mental health
Amid personal struggles, Chahal also shared his thoughts on mental health. He explained that despite stress in his personal life, he kept himself composed and completed the entire process peacefully without blaming anyone. He added, “I have two sisters; I know how to respect women. People should avoid commenting on others without full knowledge.”
Rumors spread on social media
After the divorce news, some social media users accused Chahal of cheating, while others trolled Dhanashree. On this, Chahal said, “People say whatever comes to mind without knowing the truth. Just seeing someone with another person doesn’t mean you can link their names together.”
